The Joy of Accompaniment Formation
The Joy of Accompaniment is formation in the "art of accompaniment" to which Pope Francis calls all ministers in the Church (Evangelii Gaudium 169). The teachings of Pope Francis, the Directory for Catechesis, and The Art of Accompaniment resource will guide this process. Each week, the course will focus on portions of Pope Francis' Evangelii Gaudium, along with Christus Vivit and Gaudete et Exsultate, each of which proposes a vision of accompaniment in missionary discipleship of Jesus in the context of evangelization. In addition, we will have as a required reading the book The Art of Accompaniment, A Catholic Apostolate Center Resource by Colleen Campbell and Thomas Carani. We will read the texts, reflect on them in our prayer and preparation, and in online community forums.
Our course is designed as an asynchronous online experience taking place in the C3-LEAD learning platform over four weeks online
and two integration sessions via Zoom Live
Each session will run for a week as listed below. Although you are not required to participate at specific times during the week, we recommend you set aside some time each day to attend to the components (listed below), especially the community discussion forums. The work for the session must be completed in the designated week to be counted toward course completion.
