Ministry, Discernment and Charisms

  

Course Description:

This course will help participants to become more aware of their call to holiness and their particular vocation. PArticipants will learn about apostolates, ministry, and charisms with special attention for how to discern what God is calling them towards, and participants will be invited to more fully answer our call to be missionary disciples.    

Course Learning Objectives:  

By the completion of this course, participants will be able to...

  1. Clarify and disntinguish between terms vocation, ministry and apostolate. 
  2. Clarigy and distinguised between the terms disciple and apostle.
  3. Describe the role of discernment in the personal/spiritualk life of a minister and in their role(s) as pastoral minister.
  4. Outline the gneeral process of discernment and use several discernment tools. 
  5. Articulate the importance of Discernment of Charismns and explain what makes a charism different from general talents and abilities. 
  6. Start recognizing unique charisms.

Meg Kanatzar Ferguson, D.Min. is the Curriculum Coordinator at the Catholic Apostolate Center. She helps develop online course materials and curriculums and assists with the development of Catholic Apostolate Center publications.

Meg graduated from the Catholic University of America in 2024 with her Doctor of Ministry degree (D.Min.). She holds two Master's degrees in Theology from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas and the University of Notre Dame, respectively. Meg is a graduate of Echo program of the University of Notre Dame, and she has five years teaching theology at the high school level. She currently resides in Yukon, Oklahoma with her husband, Connor, and their three children..
