No matter who you are, you have probably experienced a situation in which you or a loved one struggled under the authority of someone who abused their power. Rather than using their authority in service to the common good, they used it for heavy-handed or self-centered purposes, diminishing the quality of life of others. This experience is all too common in our families, our communities, our country, and even in our Church. Why does God allow people to be in charge who have no business being in charge? This talk will look at why the wrong people are often in charge and how God is trying to work through these difficult situations. For anyone who has suffered because of bad leaders, walked away from faith under the pressure of crushing doubt, never felt safe giving faith a chance, or cared about someone who struggles with these realities, we can learn to approach the problems of suffering and evil not as an argument to be overcome but as an invitation to a deeper faith.
