When appearing to his disciples, the Resurrected Jesus is often recognized by his wounds. As human beings, we are intersectional and belong to multiple vulnerable communities, resulting in intersectional wounds and varying levels of privilege. An understanding of intersectionality is essential in ministry. Are we hospitable to the wounds of others? How can we recognize Jesus in the wounds of LGBTQ Catholics, women, immigrants, people of color?
Yunuen Trujillo has more than 15 years of experience in young adult ministry and is a leading figure in inclusive Catholic LGBT ministry in the U.S. She has worked with L.A. Voice PICO, a faith-based organization focused on creating a society that reflects the dignity of all, advocating for immigration reform, criminal justice reform, and resources for education. She is the author of, "LGBT Catholics: A Guide to Inclusive Ministry" (Paulist Press).
