The Program
The Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies Program includes eight two-day courses, offered over two years. The aim of the program is to promote personal, spiritual, andministerial growth. Courses in the first year focus on youth ministry principles and practice, and leadership theory, processes and skills. The second year covers fostering the faith growth of youth through evangelization and catechesis, prayer and worship, justice and service, and pastoral care.
In the summer format, four courses are offered each summer. Two courses are offered during a week in June, and two are offered during a week in July. They are held on four consecutive days in each of these weeks. You can complete the program by attending for two summers.
Participants
This program has been designed for adults involved professionally or as volunteers with younger (10-14) or older (14-19) adolescents in a parish or school setting. The program is geared toward:Coordinators of Youth Ministry, Coordinators of Confirmation, Directors of Religious Education, Youth Ministry Volunteer Leaders, Junior High Leaders, Campus Ministers and Teachers, and Clergy.
Certification
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles awards a certificate in Youth Ministry Studies to participants who complete all eight courses and submit their portfolio of completed certificate assignments by the deadline following completion of their final course (December 15 for summer courses; September 15 for academic year courses).
