8-09: Unleashing the Baptized: How to Release the Gifts of Your Community for Mission

Sunday, February 26 | Period 8 | 1:00pm - 2:15pm

Let's stop asking for more volunteers as catechesis, liturgy, or works of justice! Instead, let us build up our parishioners and increase their understanding of how "baptismal living" calls them to both serve and lead in their parishes. Baptism brings us into the life of the community. Along with Eucharist and Confirmation, Baptism enables us "to carry out the mission of the entire people of God in the Church and in the world" (Christian Initiation, 2).  In this inspiring session, we will practically explore the ways in which we can live out our baptismal identity of priest, prophet, and king. Baptism changes us, therefore it should transform both our parishes and the world!

Michael Ruzicki is the Director of Sacred Music and Liturgy at St. Mary of the Lake and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Chicago, as well as the Training and Events Manager at Liturgy Training Publications. He is the author of. "Guide for Training Initiation Ministers: An Introduction to the RCIA" (LTP, 2018) and a former team member of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate. He currently leads both LTP's Catechumeneon initiative and serves as the emcee and conference coordinator for the National Gathering on Christian Initiation.
