Sau ngày Sài Gòn thất thủ năm 1975, Đức Cha Nguyễn Văn Thuận bị cộng sản Việt Nam bỏ tù 13 năm, trong tù ngài dâng Thánh Lễ với ba giọt rượu và một giọt nước. Được tấn phong hồng y năm 2001, ngài qua đời ngày 16 tháng 9 năm 2002. Năm năm sau, Giáo Hội mở án phong thánh cho ngài. Buổi hội thảo này đào sâu về những nhân đức tạo nên nền tảng linh đạo hy vọng của Đức Hồng Y Bậc Đáng Kính.
After the Vietnam War in 1975, Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan was imprisoned by communist Vietnam for 13 years. In prison, he celebrated Mass with three drops of wine and one drop of water. Elevated to cardinal in 2001, he died in Rome on September 16, 2002. Five years later, the Church began the process for his canonization. This workshop discusses the dimensions of Venerable Cardinal Thuan’s spirituality that formed the foundation of his indomitable hope.
Cha Nguyễn Huy Bảo là linh mục triều thuộc Tổng Giáo Phận Los Angeles. Năm 2010, Cha thành công đệ trình luận án Cao Học Thần Học về linh đạo Đức Hồng Y Nguyễn Văn Thuận. Các tài liệu và văn bản gốc được khảo cứu ở Việt Nam. Năm 2021, cha đạt được học vị Tiến Sĩ Giáo Luật tại Roma. Cha hiện là giáo sư giáo luật tại Đại Chủng Viện Thánh Gioan, thành phố Camarillo.
Fr. Bao Huy Nguyen is a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In 2010, he successfully defended his Master’s thesis on the spirituality of Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan, with original research done in Vietnam. In 2021, he obtained a doctorate in canon law (Juris Canonici Doctor) in Rome. Fr. Bao is currently serving as an assistant professor of canon law at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo.
