6-08: Pastoral Care for Individuals and Families Impacted by Addiction

Saturday, February 25 | Period 6 | 2:45pm - 4:00pm

Addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments related to alcohol, food, drugs, lust, money, and others are devastating over half of Catholic families. Often, ministry leaders feel overmatched to be of help when presented with these challenges. Inspired by Pope Francis's call for the local church to be a "field hospital" tending to the vital wounds of its people, Scott Weeman shares tools and principles to serve individuals and families impacted by addiction within your parish ministry.

Scott Weeman is a marriage and family therapist and founder/executive director of Catholic in Recovery, a nonprofit organization that serves individuals and families impacted by addiction. He is the author of, "The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments" and recently the editor and compiler of, "The Catholic in Recovery Workbook". He received a Masters in Clinical Counseling and has appeared on EWTN's The Journey Home and Women of Grace and is a regular guest on Catholic Answers Live. His work has been featured on Aleteia and Patheos. Scott lives in San Diego, California, with his family.
