3-03: Homelessness: Is There Anything I Can Do?

Friday, February 24 | Period 3 | 2:45pm - 4:00pm

The problem of homelessness seems daunting and large, and it can be easy to believe there is nothing you can do. Christ in the City out of Denver, Colorado has taken a radical and unique approach to homelessness, using young adult volunteers to go to the streets regularly to encounter the homeless while equipping and bringing the greater community alongside. This model of encounter is being adopted by individuals, parishes, and Dioceses all over the country. Hear how you can implement their work into your daily life to serve the poor regardless of where you live.

Blake Brouillette is Managing Director for Christ in the City, a missionary formation and homeless outreach program in Denver, Colorado. Blake was a missionary for two years, living in the community of volunteers and serving the homeless in Denver. In his sixth year on staff with Christ in the City, he has spoken to thousands of adult volunteers, college students, and middle/high school students about Christ in the City, their approach to the homeless and poor and how we are all called to be missionary disciples to the poor.
