2-01: Spiritual Not Religious: Parenting and Mentoring in a New Era of Faith

Friday, February 24 | Period 2 | 1:00pm - 2:15pm

We all know the phrase "spiritual not religious." We express our worry and concern for a generation of young people who do not feel at home in the church. But is the spiritual journey of the next generation as concerning as we make it out to be? Sarah Hart, a mother of two "spiritual not religious" young adults will address this important topic through stories, song, humor and deep honesty in this workshop. What can we learn from our young people and their own approaches to faith? How can we serve, understand, include and embrace our young people and their ideas and ideals of faith? Where have we as church failed them, and what can we do to serve this generation going forward?

Sarah Hart is a singer, songwriter, music producer, retreat author and keynote speaker.  Her heart for parish missions and itinerant ministry has taken her all over the US and abroad. She has performed for countless conventions and events, and for Pope Francis at St. Peter's Square. A Grammy-nominated songwriter, Sarah's songs have been recorded by numerous recording artists, and have appeared in TV, film and commercials.  Her songwriting is visible in hymnals across the globe. While Sarah's work is vast and varied, she says that her favorite "job" is that of wife and mother.
